CLEO
Cleo was adopted by a really nice man after Hurricane Katrina. However, he had fallen very ill and unable to take care of her, AAR took her in.

Derrick and I thought that we would provide you with a little update on how Cleo is adjusting to her new home. We adopted her from AAR in August. It has been a bit over a month, and she seems to be starting to understand that this is, in fact, her new home. She is a very sweet girl – and, we have noticed, a very sensitive girl. We are slowly going through obedience classes with her and taking her on walks outside of our neighborhood; though she is timid and nervous in new environments.
Regardless, she has been a complete joy to have around. She LOVES playing with a tennis ball in the backyard, fetching, rolling in the grass, and running around in the back yard…and she loves meeting other dogs her neighborhood walks.
She is getting used to our cats. If it were up to her, we suspect they would already be best buddies. Linus (in the picture) very quickly decided that he wasn’t going to be intimidated by a big dog in his house and stuck to most of his key routines. I suspect that the photo (taken yesterday morning) was a function of (1) Linus basking in his morning sun beam (2) Cleo realized that would be a great activity, and even better if it could be shared with a buddy (3) Cleo plopped down next to Linus (4) Linus refused to budge from his spot in the sun. Progress! Our other cat, Hazel, is having more difficulty with the situation. I think once Hazel stops darting away from her, this, too, will settle.
We’ve been so very happy to have Cleo in our house – she is a sweet and beautiful girl!! We look forward to many more years with her.
All of our best,
Wendy and Derrick

DIESEL
Despite his rough life chained to a tree with only an old car as shelter this boy
remained a happy, sweet, snuggly boy!

Diesel and I have had a great homecoming; there have been no problems. I have left him alone in the kitchen for as long as 4 hours, no major whining or barking, no destruction. We have walked almost 20 miles in three days. He loves to chase tennis balls in the back yard. I got a doggie swimming pool, going to see if he likes it. We went for a ride in the truck today and he loves that too. Overall he has been a pleasure and a great dog! I think he likes it here. I'm going to go find a nice outdoor patio in Decatur and have a beer with him
Thanks,
Clay and Diesel
HAMBONE
Hambone was found by some High School boys in Decatur and because the boys did not know what do to with him so luckily they brought him to our vet's office and AAR agreed to sponsor him!

We want to thank you so much for our wonderful Hammy!!! We love him more every day!! We are so lucky to have him! But we could have sworn that we adopted a dog from you, but it seems that he wants to be a cat! Hambone has 6 dog beds to choose from in this house-and this is where he wants to sleep!!
